What does it mean to ‘Engage the Culture’?

Many of you are very familiar with our lending library and our consignment shop.  The Family Vision is all about helping you find good reading material and educational resources for your family.  You may be less familiar with Family Vision Media.  Director Fred Zielonko seeks to equip Christians to effectively engage today’s culture.  How do we lead Godly lives and raise children in the midst of this messed up world?  Are we even supposed to be involved in politics and culture?    

I am excited to announce a new book on these very topics, written by one of our own!  Stacy Washington, Communications Director of Family Vision Media, just released Eternally Cancel Proof:  A Guide for Courageous Christians Navigating the Political Battlefront.  Stacy’s writing style is straightforward and practical.  She believes we do need to get involved.  This Air Force Veteran will teach you how to stop fighting battles with emotions and feelings.  Learn to use the most powerful weapon Christians have:  the truth.  

Stacy starts with the basics by explaining what a Biblical worldview is and why you must have one. Parents will learn how to instill one in their children, too. Perhaps you’re already engaged in the cultural war.  Do you have a particular issue dear to your heart?  We have library books like Scott Klusendorf’s The Case for Life:  Equipping Christians to Engage the Culture.  This book specifically addresses being pro-life.  We all know how controversial this position is, but do we know how to defend it, and do so in a right way?  Choose a topic and read a book on it so you are equipped to encounter it with truth.  

Our consignment area also has great truth-strengthening books on creationism, history, the Bible, and various other topics. We hope you are able to take advantage of some of these resources as you and your families meet some of these challenges to your faith head-on every day. Don’t let the culture change you.
