Why is the world such a mess? Mostly because people, in general, have forsaken the Bible and lack a Biblical worldview. According to a recent Barna poll, only 6 percent of American adults have a Christian worldview. The American Bible Society reports that only 39 percent of American adults are “Bible Users”. To be a “Bible User” required only that someone read or listened to the Bible 3-4 times per year outside of church. We are spending a pitifully sad amount of time in God’s Word!
A person’s worldview determines how that person reacts to everything in life including beliefs, people, and situations. Society tells us, from a very young age, that we can’t trust even the first 5 words of the Bible: “In the beginning God created”. So we turn everywhere else for building our worldview, often to our own “feelings” and wrong ideas from a godless society. These changing sources don’t make a very strong foundation on which to build.
In December, my church had the privilege of hosting a Creation seminar with speaker Dave Woetzel. His topics included creation and evolution, the Genesis flood and the resulting fossil record, our atheistic schools and their influence on society, and the power of the Gospel to change lives. Dave has traveled the world to see many of the things and places about which he speaks. He offers first-hand witness to the marvels of God’s world, has many great stories about his adventures, and has an entertaining delivery.
Dave has written three books that tie all these things together. Two of these books, in a limited supply, are now available in the Family Vision Library’s Consignment Shop. They are brand new and only $6 each, a significant savings from their Amazon price.
Dino Dave’s Adventures in Apologetics is a set of two books for K through fifth grades based on real events in Dave’s life. They may just be enjoyed by individual readers, or used in a classroom situation. Each is full of real people, places, research, history, pictures, and science facts. Dave set out to arm “young children with fun-filled, simply-presented arguments that buttress the Christian faith and authority of God’s Word.” Each chapter is about one of Dave’s adventures, but it also has a specific lesson to teach to kids through that adventure.
The books are also sprinkled with Bible verses, for Dave wants to get kids firmly established in a Biblical worldview. He has found evidence of the aforementioned studies, as he travels to speak. To his alarm, many kids, even Sunday school/church kids, think most stories in the Bible, including those about the Genesis flood, early people, etc., are just nice stories, but not really true. He wants to prevent kids, perhaps your own kids or grandkids, from growing up “skeptical of the Bible, abandoning their childhood faith and embracing the materialistic secular culture around them.”
So if you are looking for a fun, science-related course for your kids, grandkids, or maybe the kids’ church group you lead, get Dino Dave’s Adventures in Apologetics. If we want to see a difference in this world, we’re going to have to rebuild our crumbled foundation. We are going to have to be true “Bible Users”, incorporating the Bible into every day, not just 3 or 4 times outside of church. Get the kids in your life firmly grounded on an unwavering faith in their Bibles and God. They will see the world and approach life in a whole new way.
